Michael Antony Austin at the Schuhfabrik Culture Summer!

Michael Antony Austin is already well known to many as the singer of Queen May Rock. On Saturday, July 19 from 8 p.m., he will be performing his intimate solo show “LIVE & ALONE” for the first time at the Culture Summer at the Schuhfabrik on the terrace stage. He combines his own songs with hand-picked covers and tells the stories behind them - personally, authentically and with a lot of heart and soul.

Singer-songwriter Michael Antony Austin, born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, has lived in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2000. His musical career began at a young age with appearances in well-known musical productions such as Oliver, Annie, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Pirates of Penzance. At the age of 16, he founded his first band Under Pressure and gained his first studio experience. He was also involved in short theater productions for local BBC radio stations and worked with musicians from renowned folk bands in the North of England such as Lindisfarne and Prelude.

Over the years Michael has played with numerous bands, projects and as a solo artist on famous stages around the world - from the USA to Russia. As a live performer, he has toured the UK, Germany and the Benelux countries with successful gala and tribute bands such as MayQueen, Queen II, ReMode and Groove Delighters. He has also performed on stage with well-known artists such as Chris Norman, Weather Girls, Frank Zander, Roland Kaiser, Rea Garvey, Mark Medlock, Lucy Diakovska and Right Said Fred.

Michael is currently active as the frontman of two top-class Queen tribute projects: Queen May Rock, one of the best Queen tribute bands in Germany and returning to the Schuhfabrik on December 6th, and Queen Rhapsody, a unique crossover project with classical pianist Natalia Posnova. His discography includes eight official albums, both as a solo artist and with band projects such as Seafoam Green, Metal Inc. and Monsieur Klaas. His music is strongly inspired by his home in the north of England (near the Scottish border) as well as artists such as John Mellencamp, Runrig, Bruce Springsteen and Elton John.

Admission is possible from 7.30 pm. The concert will take place on the open-air stage facing the parking lot. Admission is free, the Schuhfabrik is happy to receive donations. In case of bad weather, the concert will take place in the hall.

The "Schuhfabrik Culture Summer!" is kindly supported by Volksbank Ahlen, Sparkasse Münsterland Ost and the Stadtwerke and takes place within the framework of the project "Third Places - Houses for Culture and Meeting in Rural Areas" funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
