One World – One Stage with SoundART and DIG Klang Angklung!

For many years, One World One Stage at the Schuhfabrik has been a stage for musicians from a wide variety of cultures. It will take place again on Saturday, August 10, starting at 8:00 p.m. as part of the Kultursommer (Cultural Summer). This evening will be a platform for multicultural sounds. This time, the German-Kurdish band SoundART and - following last year's great success - DIG Klang Angklung will be performing again. Rocio Siekaup will host One World – One Stage.

The band SoundArt consists of Cersun (guitar, vocals), Claudia (clarinet, vocals), Guido (drums/percussion), and Sandra (vocals/percussion). SoundArt's repertoire includes cover songs as well as original compositions. The music doesn't fit into any particular genre, but combines Western and Eastern sounds into a unique world music that has already captivated audiences at "Ahlen Akustisch" (Ahlen acoustic).

To conclude the intercultural musical evening, the German-Indonesian octet DIG Klang Angklung will present unique sounds on an instrument that is probably relatively unknown in Germany: the angklung. This is a bamboo shaker idiophone from Java, which is also widespread on other Indonesian islands, in Malaysia and Thailand. In Germany it is sometimes called a lattice rattle. When played correctly, the angklung produces powerful tones with a timbre that lies somewhere between wooden and metallic. The low notes in particular can be so loud that even outdoor concerts or large halls require no electrical amplification. In 2010, at Indonesia's request, the angklung was added to the UNESCO list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. DIG Klang Angklung was founded with the goal of conveying Indonesian culture, particularly the angklung musical instrument, so that it becomes better known internationally, especially in Germany.

Admission is possible from 7.30 pm. The concert will take place on the open-air stage in the direction of the parking lot. Admission is free, the Schuhfabrik is happy to receive donations. In case of bad weather, the concert will take place in the hall.

The "Schuhfabrik Culture Summer!" is kindly supported by Volksbank Ahlen, Sparkasse Münsterland Ost and the Stadtwerke and takes place within the framework of the project "Third Places - Houses for Culture and Meeting in Rural Areas" funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
