Youth culture
Since its early days, the Schuhfabrik has provided space and expression for youth culture in Ahlen in a variety of ways. It's important to us to encourage creativity and initiative among teenagers and young adults. Whether you express this through music, theater, or partying, or come up with something completely different, is up to you. The Schuhfabrik definitely offers opportunities for experimentation and the first or further exploration of different genres and disciplines. For example, young people organize concerts and parties here, supported by experienced staff. This results in many interesting events aimed at a young target audience.

Offer 1: Creating Songtexts
Do you have melodies buzzing around in your head, or do you enjoy writing your own lyrics? There are endless possibilities for writing a song. But where do you even begin? Experienced musician Alexander Fischer will work with the students to develop a song from loose ideas. Before they start writing songs, however, they will get into the groove on various instruments and develop a general understanding of music. Together, we'll explore different areas of music and unleash each student's creative side. Through brainstorming and working in small groups, song lyrics will be developed, and at the end, "YOUR SONG" will be created.
The offer can also be carried out in school. Period: 2024,
Target group: 7th and 8th grade, Number of participants: one school class, Duration: 2 hours.Offer 2: Theatre
The best thing for the students to do is go straight onto the stage and try it out for real! In the "Theater for YOU!" workshop, students get their first insights into the world of theater. They try out their bodies and voices, slip into different roles and, above all, have fun! Theater is funny and diverse! Starting a career is as varied as the roles we unconsciously play every day. You might meet a nice colleague on the one hand and a demanding, critical boss on the other. How do I deal with that? How do I react to unexpected questions in a job interview? During improvisational theater training, students learn many soft skills in a playful way: empathizing with others, trying out different ways of thinking and behaving when faced with a problem, leading but also following. This can help to understand the different perspectives of the people who work in a company and, for example, reduce the pressure in a job application situation. Feel like trying something new? Then join in. The experienced theatre educator Tobias Winopall whets the young people’s appetite for acting. The program can also be offered in schools.
Period: 2024, Target group: 7th and 8th grades,Number of participants: one school class, Duration: 2 hours. The coordination and urban planning is handled by the Cultural Office of the City of Ahlen: +49 2382 59-188. The "Kulturrucksack NRW" program aims to open the door to culture and art as widely as possible for all children and young people. The program is aimed at students aged 10-14. Through the long-term promotion of partnerships between educational and cultural institutions, new learning environments are to be opened up for students, while the offerings of cultural institutions are to be made more accessible to all children and young people, including secondary schools. The "Kulturrucksack NRW" program is funded by the Ministry for Family, Children, Youth, Culture and Sport of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
