User groups
The Schuhfabrik has rooms on the first floor that it can make available to groups. In addition to two group rooms for around 10 to 20 people and an almost square room for around 40 people, there is a tea kitchen with an adjoining meeting room. All rooms can be booked from Monday to Saturday inclusive. Numerous groups from Ahlen and the surrounding area use this offer. From regular weekly appointments to compact rehearsal phases and one-off meetings, such as team supervision or educational days, to information events, many things are possible here.

“The MacLeod Pipes and Drums” consists of pipers and drummers from the area between Soest and Münster. The musicians are a mixture of Germans and Scots. The group is dedicated to the culture of the Scottish Highlands in general and the music of the great Highland bagpipe in particular.
The original group consisting of six pipers was founded by Georg Herrmann in 1992. Over time the band grew (now there are 30 musicians) and became more tightly organized, following the model of all local Scottish bagpipe bands.
We meet once a week to rehearse in the Schuhfabrik community center in Ahlen, where we try to improve our playing technique and expand our repertoire.
Our main goal is to present a genuine Scottish bagpipe band that plays genuine Scottish music well to the public.
Meeting: Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. New participants may be welcome.

The Ahlen 54 e.V. chess club was founded in 1954. We play tournament chess as a club, but also just for fun and take part in the championships and tournaments of the chess organization, i.e. the NRW Chess Association and the German Chess Federation. We currently have 6 senior teams and one youth team.
The Ahlen chess club belongs to the Hamm chess district at the next higher level. We currently have 61 members, of which around 23 are young people and 6 are female. Our game and training evenings are on Mondays and Fridays, unless there are other events taking place in the community center. We look forward to every visit and interested guests who want to play a game of chess. Age and playing strength are not important. We find something for everyone who is interested in this old cult game or wants to learn something.
Meetings: Mondays from 5:30 p.m.Room 1 | First floor
New participants are very welcome. (The lessons are held in German!)
In house contact: Harald Dresner - Barflute
-
Barflute is a group of 7 women from Ahlen who have been playing soprano, alto, tenor and bass recorders together since 2015. The group has recently been supplemented by percussion. You won't find Mozart or Bach here, but rather young modern composers, pop and even tango music. It sounds different than usual, but the familiar sound of the recorder can be found in all the songs.
The band name came about when, as if by chance, all the members were playing barefoot at a rehearsal that day. The tiles in the rehearsal room were so cool that the warmed-up members cooled their feet there on the summer day. Hence barefoot with flute - Barflute.
Barflute rehearses weekly on Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in room 4 on the first floor.
Interested musicians who want to join in are very welcome.

We have several rooms on the first floor of the Schuhfabrik that you can rent for your group!
