The association Initiative Bürgerzentrum Schuhfabrik e.V. was founded in 1984 and is a non-profit organization. Donations to support the work are tax deductible. The association currently has 210 members, who are represented by a 14-member board that meets regularly and voluntarily every month. The board regulates the activities of the association together with the management. The association employs 10 permanent employees, around 20 temporary workers, and another 10 employees who work on a fee basis.
