„Central Park Band – A Tribute to Simon & Garfunkel“ first time at the Schuhfabrik!
The Simon & Garfunkel reunion concert in New York's Central Park was a sensation. It set a precedent for the preservation of the park and, with approximately 500,000 spectators, became one of the largest concerts of all time. The "Central Park Band" has been bringing the unforgettable songs of that evening and the feeling of that era to the stage for 25 years. On Saturday, September 27, the "Central Park Band – A Tribute to Simon & Garfunkel" will perform "Sounds of Silence," "Bridge Over Troubled Water," "Scarborough Fair," and many more for the first time in the hall of the Ahlen Schuhfabrik.
Two voices that harmonize perfectly, acoustic guitars that support them with emotion, songs that oscillate between folk and pop that have made music history: Mrs. Robinson, Homeward Bound, The Boxer. A magical moment – when an entire audience joins in the chorus of "Bridge Over Troubled Water."
The Central Park Band offers all of this with their tribute to Simon & Garfunkel – but it's more than that. A band with rock 'n' roll, power, energy, and dynamism are the other side of the songs of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel and the Central Park Band's repertoire: Baby Driver, The Sounds of Silence, Call Me Al.
The audience repeatedly agrees: "...the sparks fly right across the stage with the Central Park Band"; "Close your eyes, and you'd think it was really Simon & Garfunkel singing." Back then, the final piece of "The Sounds of Silence" in NYC's Central Park was a large, contented, staggering sea of people with lit lighters; today, that goosebump-inducing feeling still exists with a beaming, singing-along audience.
Central Park Band consists of Jörg Shorty Thimm – vocals, acoustic guitar, Dieter Nientiedt – vocals, E/A guitar, Peter Köhn – keyboards, Karl Övermann – drums, and Maurizio de Matteis – bass.
