All good things come in threes! And you need these three names for good music: Gregor Hilden, Gerd Gorke and Till Hoheneder! In 2014, the paths of these three musical heavyweights crossed on the joint project Rhythm & Blues. Now lovers of good live music can rejoice: Gregor, Gerd & Till are bringing the band back together and playing their beloved: Rhythm & Blues! On Saturday, November 15th from 8 p.m. (doors 7.30 p.m.) they will present their program Rhythm & Blues Vol. 2 for the first time in the Ahlener Schuhfabrik.
Because that is Hilden, Gorke and Hoheneder's favorite music. Gregor Hilden from Münster has been one of the most renowned blues guitarists in Germany for years. Whether as a sideman with Richie Arndt, Harriet Lewis or on his own mission with his fantastic Gregor Hilden Organ Trio: his virtuoso playing and his unmistakable tone are now also appreciated and celebrated by international blues critics. A playboy with a golden tone and a likeable stage presence. Anyone who plays blues as well as Gregor does doesn't have to make a pact with the devil at any crossroads in the southern states, that much should be clear.
The fact that Hilden has come across Gerd Gorke and his harmonica more than once at his numerous concerts should come as no surprise to rhythm & blues lovers. Because Mr. Gorke (Speedos, Deltaboys, Hootin' the Blues) is a true master of the harmonica and winner of the German Blues Prize (2009). He masters his instrument like no other and draws out tones and timbres that always delight his audience. The third man in the group, Till Hoheneder, is also a living legend. He has been in the business for over 35 years. With Till & Obel, the three-time German Comedy Prize winner invented the New German Comedy. Today, Hoheneder is a bestselling author and podcaster who has been streamed millions of times (Zärtliche Cousinen mit Atze Schröder, Musik ist Trumpf). Above all, Till is a passionate musician like Gregor Hilden and Gerd Gorke (Till & Die Rockafellers, The Slowhand All Stars). His versatile voice is like his guitar playing: earthy, soulful and deeply rooted in the blues.
These three talented musicians and their great band play the soundtrack of their lives: rhythm & blues. Blues classics by Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Robert Johnson, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top and the Rolling Stones are celebrated, among others. Hilden, Gorke & Hoheneder celebrate the songs of these legends with all their experience and musical passion until there is no dry eye left. Participants include: Gregor Hilden (guitar, vocals), Gerd Gorke (harmonica, vocals), Till Hoheneder (vocals, guitar), Ralf Ehrhardt (bass), Thomas Iselt (drums) and Stefan Lamberty (keyboards). Tickets are available in advance for €19 in the pub at the community center until Friday and online at events.schuhfabrik-ahlen.de until Wednesday before the event. They cost €23 at the box office. This event takes place within the framework of the project “Third Places – Houses for Culture and Encounters in Rural Areas” and is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
