Mr. Punch plays Marillion

With singer Fish, Marillion is one of the most important and influential representatives of neo-prog, which flourished in the 1980s and is currently experiencing a revival. On Saturday, January 17th from 8:00 pm, the Italian band Mr. Punch will come to the Ahlener Schuhfabrik to revive the Marillion Fish era. 

In 2014, the band was founded on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the release of the LP "Fugazi", which became groundbreaking for Marillion. The incredibly virtuoso guitarist Marcella Arganese and the expressive singer Marco Vincini have once again found like-minded people at a high level with drummer Marco Fabbri (The Watch until 2022) and the two newcomers, organist Licia Missori and bassist Luca Cristofaro. Vincini comes very close to Fish's voice and expressiveness, also in his tendency to an expressionist and costumed stage appearance.

The pieces of this time are melodic and on a compositional level, hymn-like and calmer passages carried by keyboard surfaces alternate with fast parts, which are often in crooked, choppy-looking time signatures. In addition to the independent, melodic guitar playing by the exceptional guitarist Marcella Arganese, the emotional singing of Marco Vincini is characteristic.

The lyrics convey personal, political or fantasy literature-based content that can be classified as timeless. The most personal album is Misplaced Childhood, which was recorded in a lavish time in the Hansa Studios in West Berlin. Mr. Punch will present a Best Of at this concert evening that all Marillion fans can really look forward to
